དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. In "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script. An Avalokitesvara / Chenresig prayer on behalf of all sentient beings. Used by chowas and others when going into retreat. ༄༅། །འཕགས་པ་ཐུགས་རྗེ་འི་ཆེན་པོར་འཁོར་བ་དོང་སྤྲུགས་ཀྱིས་བསྙེན་སྒྲུབ་ཕྲིན་ལས་དང་བཅས་པ་གཞན་ཕན་འཁའ་ཁྱབ་ཅེས་བྱས་པ་བཞུགསོ།.

Extent: One book consisting of nine folios.

Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 27 cm x 7.5 cm.

Condition of original material: Good condition for its age. Light staining.

Arrangement: Texts and ritual objects kept in boxes in the prayer room (not seen). The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
