དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. Handwritten in "headless" Tibetan dbu med (Ume) script and "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script. No title page. Title gleaned from pages inside the text. Some diagrams within the text. An astrological text referring to the twelve year Tibetan cycle. A manual to recognise ghosts and malignant spirits AND to diagnose ailments and illnesses. ༄༅། ༔ །ལོ་བསྐོར་བཅིུས་གྱི་གདོན་ངོས་འཛིན་ཚུལ་དང་དུས་ཚོད་བཅུ་གཉིས་གྱི་ནད་ངོས་འཛིན་ཚུལ་བཅས་བཞུགས་སོཧྱ༔།.

Extent: One book consisting of 41 folios.

Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 57 cm x 10 cm, folding to 28.5 cm x 10 cm.

Condition of original material: Cover ragged and discoloured through age and usage. Pages also stained throughout. Text fully legible though some pages missing.

Arrangement: Texts and ritual objects kept in boxes in the prayer room (not seen). The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
