An unbound Tibetan book (pecha) on handmade paper. No tItle page. A text in several sections, some woodblock printed others handwritten in "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script. A text primarily describing the reading of pulses, a fundamental Tibetan amchi diagnostic method.
Extent: One unbound book in six sections consisting of 78 folios and wooden cover.
Size and dimensions of original material: Undecoated wooden cover is 68 x 16 x 3 cm. Folios vary in size from 53 cm x 9 cm to 59 cm x 10.5 cm.
Condition of original material: Varying conditions. Some pages badly worn, many stained through age and usage, some torn and repaired with tape. Page sizes vary and several pages are missing from the latter part of the text.
Arrangement: All material kept in the household prayer room. The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
