དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. In "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script. There is no title page. This is the text for a ritual feast offering to the lineage Guru. In the chowa (and nyingma) tradition this refers to Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) This offering feast benefits both the sponsors and practitioners who gain merit. Suggested title is གུ་རུའི་ཚོགས་བཞུགས་སོ། གུ་རུ A teacher or lineage teacher ཚོགས A feast, a communal gathering.

Extent: One unbound book consisting of twenty two folios.

Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 42 cm x 7 cm.

Condition of original material: Staining and discolouration through age and usage throughout and some severe paper damage.

Arrangement: All the material was kept in a box in the prayer room (unseen). The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
