A handwritten Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. In "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script and "headless" Tibetan dbu med (Ume) script. བླ་འགུགས་ A ritual to summon the bla (life force/ vital energy) back into the body when illness or other problems have caused it become separated. The rite is performed so that Yama, the Lord of Death, will not harm the person afflicted. Cutting the rope that might drag you to the netherworld. བླ་འགུགས་ཆིའ་བདག་ཞགས་བཅོད་བཞུགས་གསོགས། more corectly written as བླ་འགུགས་འཆི་བདག་ཞགས་གཅོད་བཞུགས་སོ། འཆི་བདག means Yama Lord of Death ཞགས་ lasso or rope གཅོད means cut.
Extent: One unbound book consisting of nine folios.
Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 42 cm x 7.5 cm.
Condition of original material: Several folios repaired with tape.
Arrangement: All the material is kept within the prayer room (not seen). The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
