དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. In "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script, in red and black ink. An unidentified short amchi medical text entitled ཟིན་ཐིགས་བསམ་འཕེལ་ནོར་བུ་བཞུགས་སོ The title is difficult to translate: ཟིན་ཐིགས is probably a spelling mistake. The similar sounding ཟིན་ཏིག means of curing sickness and also the medicinal herb (gentian). བསམ་འཕེལ་ནོར་བུ (Samphel Norbu) is the name of the wish fulfilling gem.

Extent: One unbound book consisting of nine folios.

Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 49 cm x 8.5 cm.

Condition of original material: Discolouration and staining through usage.

Arrangement: Kept in the prayer room of Urgyen Tsewang (not seen). The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
