དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. Handwritten in "headless" Tibetan dbu med (Ume) script, i black and red ink. This appears to be the text for an offering ritual performed for the nine headed naga. The “title page” is apparently not the name of the text but a description of some key materials needed to perform the ritual. འཆི་བདག་ཀླུ་མགོ་དགུ་པ་ལ་གདམས་པ་བཞུགས་སོ། འཆི་བདག Lord of Death ཀླུ་མགོ་ naga head དགུ་ nine.

Extent: One unbound book consisting of three folios.

Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 36.5 cm x 8 cm. Condition of original material: Stained through usage.Arrangement: All the material is kept within the owner's prayer room (not seen). The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date
