དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. Handwritten in "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script. A text for a ritual to remove “year obstacles” that affect people when they turn 13, 25 etc. The title refers to obstacle year ལོ་ཀྱག་ There are different obstacle years for males and females. འཕགས་པ་འཇམ་དཔལ་མཛད་པའི་ལོ་ཀྱག་བཞུགས་སོ།.

Extent: One unbound book consisting of twelve folios.

Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 39 cm x 7 cm.

Condition of original material: Title is partially obscured by tape, hard to read and contains spelling mistakes. Paper edges worn. Some loss of text. Two folios mended with tape. The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
