དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. Handwritten in "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script. A text for a ritual performed by Chowa, that involves making a dough sculptural offering (Tib. མདོས wylie mdos), a ransom effigy, in this case as a black figure. A special kind of offering thrown at a location outside the house during the ritual. ལྟོ་ནགི་མདོས་བཞུགས་སྷོ།.

Extent: One unbound book consisting of seven folios.

Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 27.5 cm x 8 cm. The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
