A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. Handwritten in "headless" Tibetan dbu med (Ume) script. An astrological text concerning correct behaviour before cremation…for example specifying which people (defined by year of birth) should hide when the body is taken to the cremation ground. Title written as: གཤིན་རོ་ལམ་གྱི་སྩིས་བཞུགས་སོ། is better as: གཤིན་རོ་ལམ་གྱི་རྩིས་བཞུགས་སོ། གཤིན means a type of spirit or the consciousness of a human who has died but still lingering in the bardo realm prior to reincarnation རོ་ལམ means the path of the dead body རྩིས means counting / astrological calculation.
Extent: One unbound book consisting of ten folios.
Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 42 cm x 7.5 cm.
Condition of original material: Text stained and darkened through age and usage. The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
