དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. Handwritten in "headless" Tibetan dbu med (Ume) script. An astrology text consulted before getting married, when planning on taking a bride or groom. བག་རྩིས་ཁྲ་མོ་བཞུགས་སོ། བཀྲིས་པར་གྱུར་དམ། བག་རྩིས་means nuptial astrology. བཀྲིས་པར་གྱུར་དམ། is an auspicious wishing of good luck.

Extent: One unbound book consisting of eleven folios.

Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 42 cm x 7.5 cm.

Condition of original material: Text stained and darkened through age and usage. The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
