དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. In Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script in black and red ink with some writing in "headless" Tibetan dbu med (Ume) script. A text for a ritual to restore diminishing, weakened or decreased life force, strength or power (for example if there is an inauspicious seven year gap between family members or between husband or wife there is believed to be opposition leading to quarelling which this ritual can address. Title is སྲོག་དགུད་གསོ་བའི་ལྟོ་ཆོག་བཞུགས་སོ། སྲོག་ means life དགུད་ (རྒུད) means decrease གསོ་བ means restore ལྟོ་ཆོག meansmethod or formula.

Extent: One unbound book consisting of six folios.

Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 45 cm x 8 cm.

Condition of original material: Staining through usage. Damage to page corners. minor loss of text.

Arrangement: All material is kept in the prayer room. The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
