དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. In Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script. Cover text is illegible but this is the ceremony of Tho nag (ལྟོ་ནག་) A ritual involving the making of a Lud, a black sacrificial ransom offering in human or animal form, made of barley dough.

Extent: One book consisting of fourteen folios.

Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 64 cm x 9 cm, folded to 32 cm x 9 cm.

Condition of original material: Staining and discolouration through age.

Arrangement: All material is kept in the prayer room. The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
