This work Utthara Gita is Lord Krishna’s upadesa to king Arjuna’s quesstions after the Mahabharata war. This work is Tamil translation of the Sanskrit work having three chapters with 54,41 and 14 slokas. This work describs pranava mantra, meditation process, Anmathattuva, charater of a Gnani and state of Mukthi etc. மகாபாரதப் போர் முடிந்து பாண்டவர்கள் அரசாண்டுக் கொண்டு இருந்தபோது அர்ஜுனன் திரும்பவும் கேட்கும் கேள்விகளுக்கு கண்ணன் கூறும் உபதேசமே உத்தர கீதை. வடமொழியில் அமைந்த இந்நூல் மூன்று அத்தியாயங்களில் முறையே 54, 41, 14 என 109 சுலோகங்களால் ஆனதின் தமிழ் மொழிபெயர்ப்பே இந்நூல். இதில் ஓம் என்ற பிரணவ மந்திர உபாசனை, தியான முறை, ஆன்ம தத்துவத்தை உணர்ந்தறிந்தவனுக்குச் செய்ய வேண்டியதொன்றும் இல்லை, தத்துவ ஞானகளுடைய இலக்கணம், பரமனுடன் இரண்டறக் கலத்தல் யாது? ஞானியின் முக்திநிலை போன்ற பல்வேறு செய்திகள் இந்நூலில் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளன.
