Bhagavat gita is upadesa of Lord Krishna to Arjuna in the battle field of Mahabharada. Arjuna refused to battle against his relation in the war. Krishna explains the vedata thoughts in the form of discussion. Bhagavat gita has eighteen chapters with 599 stanzas gives philosophical thoughts, yoga process and other advices for better living. மகாபாரதத்தின் தொடக்கப் போரில் அர்ச்சுனன் எதிரணியில் இருப்பவர்கள் உறவினர்களாக இருப்பதால் தயங்க, அவனின் தேரோட்டியான கிருஷ்ணன் போர் தர்மத்தில் உறவின் முறை ஆகாதென விளக்கும் அர்ச்சுனன்-கிருஷ்ணன் ஆகிய இருவரின் உரையாடல்களே பகவத் கீதை. இப்பகவத் கீதையில் மனித வாழ்க்கைக்குத் தேவையான யோகம் மற்றும் தத்துவம் சார்ந்த கருத்துக்கள் மிகுந்துள்ளன. பதினெட்டு அத்தியாயங்களில் 599 பாடல்கள் கொண்டதாக இச்சுவடி அமைந்துள்ளது.
