Boyden Plate Box 19: Boyden Observatory, telescopes (Set 2)

A collection of images of telescopes. Two are of telescopes at Boyden: the 24-inch Bruce and the 13-inch Refractor. The image of the 13-inch telescope clearly belongs to a set in a different Plate Box. All the images are undated, but the plate of the Bruce telescope has a matching lantern slide, which is dated 1931. Three images are of the 74-inch Reflector of Radcliffe Observatory, Pretoria, South Africa. A faded pencilled note on the plate box reads: "[Murrays]burg, Cradock". None of the plates are taken near these towns. However, a different collection of plates show street scenes in Murraysburg, possibly in relation to a total solar eclipse in 1940 which was visible from Cradock. n/a. Extent: 5 glass plates.
