[Personal diaries and notes of Komal Kothari]

This is a notebook containing notes and personal writings of Komal Kothari spanning at least 4 years. The first few pages contain entries on developments on an order for puppets of 'Amar Singh Rathaur ka Khel' to be made in Jodhpur and supervised by Prem. A few pages contain a table based on Brenda Beck's questionnaire for research on local epics, and its further extension by Kothari for Rajasthani Epics. The notebook contains notes on books like Peter J Claus's The Indian Folk Epic, Bhola Ram Thakur's Gods and Godesses of Himachal, and 'Teja ki Katha' from a book called Pranveer Teja Marwari Khel. The notebook has also been used as a daily journal during various trips and contains notes taken during conferences at Madison, Wisconsin and later, at Pratapshodh Sansthan, Udaipur. Further notes on work with Genevieve Durnon (Vivi) regarding making of instruments along with interviews with various resourcepersons are in this notebook followed by notes on working conditions and functioning of Lok Kala mandal, Udaipur. A planning for programmes at the Beneshwar Mela (fair) with performance sequences, budget and costumes and jewellery for the artists etc. along with ethnographic notes on the fair and other trips to various villages of Lakshmangarh district. Some information on the jewellery of the Meo community has also been noted. In the last few pages is a table of collected Par paintings with the names of epics they are for.
