Diary 1962 [Personal diaries and notes of Komal Kothari]

This is a diary containing notes and personal writings of Komal Kothari. The diary contains a number of lists e. g. of topics for monographs and project based, of sources for folk songs in Udaipur, people to meet, things to do in Delhi, list of departments that can be approached for support in Bhil Studies and a list of events in the field that need to be furher researched if encountered. The diary also contains choreographic analysis on the dances of Bhils followed by an ethnographic note on the Bhils. Extensive notes on Film Technique and Film Acting by Pudovkin; a comprehensive note on 'Mardang' a percussion instrument. and 'Duchako' an instrument from Dungarpur. The diary has also been used as a daily journal during ethnographic visits to Dungarpur, Bhilwara and Shahpura. Custodial history: Collection of Komal Kothari, housed at Rupayan Sansthan. Contains handwritten notes with blue, black, green and red ink, Jacket of the diary is missing. On the top edge or head of the book name has been written with possibily red ink which has turned brown over time. The front panel page has year written with red marker, along with few notes have been made with black ink. Pages have turned yellow and brittle. THe front has stain marks.
