Par Vachano performance

The photographs grouped within this file contains photographs of a Par Vachano performance by a Bhopa priest at Rupayan Sansthan in Borunda, Jodhpur. The Bhopa is performing in front of a painted scroll or a Par while playing the Jantar which signifies that he is a Bhopa of Devnarayan and performs the epic of Devnarayan or Bagrawat in the Par Vachano tradition of Rajasthan. Jantar consists of a bamboo with two gourd resonators, one at each end. A wooden base attached to bamboo has nails which hold the strings.
