Wat Metārāng Medical Text

Accordian-style folding book (parabaik) medical text, divided into 5 'books' which likely mean that the sections have fallen apart into separate sections. Possibly more than one text; only further study will reveal the case. Includes text largely in Mon, with some pages in Thai and Khom (Thai-style Khmer) script. Contents include text, charts, lists, some illustrations, and blank pages with scribblings. Identification based on what collection guardians told me. Clearly written in stages by multiple hands in pencil. Photographs include what appear to be covers, but text on them does not allow identification of titles, scribes, etc.

Extent: 5 sections, each varying in length. Approximately 217 leaves, front and back.

Condition of original material: Varies widely: some pages legible, others badly eaten by worms or otherwise torn.

Custodial history: Handwriting is Thai Mon, Thai, Khmer, indicating local origin.

Additional date information: Late 19th century-Early 20th century, possibly some sections added to later.
