This palm-leaf manuscript is a Hindu mythological work from Nallur, Sri Lanka. It is written in Tamil. On the basis of linguistic analysis, it could be dated to the late 18th or 19th century. The first part of the manuscript illustrates a popular mythological story that centered around Hindu cosmology and god Vishnu in which devars and asurars churn the ocean of milk using the snake Vasuki in anticipation to obtain the nectar of immortal life. The latter part of the manuscript is also related to god Vishnu and is written in Tamil prose. Extent and format of original material: Palm-leaf manuscript, 342 leaves.
