This volume contains marriage records of freed (forro) and free individuals registered in the Church of São João Batista (Baptista) de Niterói-RJ dating from 11 Jan 1829 through 09 Jan 1847. The opening charter was signed by J. Caetano Ferr.a de (?) [Ferreira de ?] on 06 May 1821. The closing charter was signed by Marcellino Fernandes Viera on 02 Jun 1821 and by interim scribe Silveira on 26 Aug 1835. Marcellino Ferreira initialed the folios. There are a number of references to Portuguese individuals. Among others, this volume records the marriages of: Lieutenant Duarte Joaquim Jorge (3V), Lieutenant João de Moraes Madureira (7F), the daughter of the Squadron Chief (Chefe de Esquadra) Rodrigo Antonio Moraes de Lamare (15V), the daughter of Lieutenant Pedro Henrique da Cunha (27F), Lieutenant Antonio Joaquim de Oliveira (33V), Captain Ricardo Tompson (33V), the daughter of Lieutenant Captain Pedro Antonio Nunes (38F), Colonel Francisco Xavier Calmon da Silva (41F), the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel José Rebello Vasconcellos Souza Coelho Henriques (63F), and the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Jozé Castriolo (80V). The following African ethnonyms and "nations" are mentioned: Mina, Cabinda, Casange, Benguela, Angola. Entries were signed by the following clergy: Vicar Joaquim de Sta Anna Lamego and Vicar Callado Thomas d'Aquino. Physical characteristics: The volume is comprised of 131 numbered folios and a cover.
