Diante’s Bilingual Collection I

Transliterated title: Jante la Kandoolu Kitaaboolu I.

Contains a collection of various manuscripts, written by different hands on a variety of papers. The documents are written in classical Arabic and includeArabic, Soninke, and Mandink Ajami glosses. The materials deal with Islamic subjects (including stories of Prophet Muḥammad) and contain a numerological formula.

Custodial history: The owner inherited them from his father's young brother, Solly Diante. He was born in Baghere in Casamance where he received his Islamic education. He later setttled in Kontecounda where he served as a Quranic teacher and Imam until his death.

Extent and format of original material: 38 pages.

Physical characteristics: Unbound manuscript. Many parts are destroyed. Some pages are torn and others have holes.
