There two small manuscripts in this collection. The first is an Arabic poem copied from the original by El-hadji Kemo Ndiaye. The poem celebrates famous Mandinka scholars of Bijini in Guinea Bissau, especially those from the Ndiaye family who migrated to Bijini from the Wolof kingdoms of Senegal centuries ago. The poem celebrates the Mandinka scholars for their work in Islamic education and sciences, their solidarity and support to the poor, and their generosity with ideas. Their names and the places where they lived in the Bijini region are noted in the poem to help their descendants better understand the histories and the lives of their ancestors. Besides tracing the genealogy of the Ndiaye family of Bijini to Senegal, the first manuscript distinguishes two Ndiaye families and their different origins and specializations. These two families are: the Kang Ndiaye family and the Kantara Mamoudou Ndiaye family. The second document is a poem written in Mandinka Ajami. It praises Prophet Muḥammad and includes prayers for protection against Satan, and for long life, and health, among other things.
