Arabic Takhmīs Poem

Transliterated title: Araabukaŋ Tahamisi Suukuwo.

The manuscript is a copy from the Arabic original. It has extensive glosses in Arabic. It was copied by Abdoulaye Bayo. The poem praises God, celebrates His glory and mercy, emphasizes the importance of knowledge, and gives tribute to a prominent Mandinka scholar so that people learn about his achievements.

Custodial history: The owner inherited it from his father (Mouhamadou Lamine Bayo Diang) after his death. His father was born in Bijini in Guinea Bissau. He had an advanced Islamic education and spent part of his life between several famous learning centers in Senegambia, including Diarra Barrocounda in the Gambia, and Diao Simaacounda in the region of Sedhiou, and Sambouya in Guinea Bissau. He died in Mecca.
