Collection of Letters

Transliterated title: Leetaroolu.

The collection contains several personal notes and correspondences written in Mandinka Ajami between family members and friends who were living in different parts of the world. One letter was written by a friend who was living in France and another one by a relative who was living in Saudi Arabia. Another letter came from a family member from Dakar (the capital of Senegal) who was wondering how the family back home in Casamance was doing. Another letter was sent by a daughter to her father. Before the widespread availability of cellphones, Mandinka Ajami was the primary means of written communication between Mandinka people within Senegal and in the diaspora.
