"The [Auto] Commentary on Adorment of the Middle Way" (Toh. 3885) by Śāntarakṣita [Shantarakshita] (725–788) marks the final stage in the evolution of Madhyamaka and was the last major development of Buddhist philosophy in India. Śāntarakṣita [Shantarakshita]'s view expressed herein effects a synthesis between the Madhyamaka of Nagardjuna, the Mind-Only teaching of Asanga, and the logico-epistemological tradition of Dignanga and Dharmakirti.
