Prince Madrais Alibasa Manuscript No. 16A

The manuscript No.16A is written in a set of loose folios There are two sizes of paper; 34 x 21.5 cm and 35 x 21.5 cm. The condition of paper is brittle perforated, taped and yellowing. The ink penetrates to the reverse side. The writing is faded but still readable. In this manuscript, Prince Madrais describes historical facts about his life and society during the Dutch colonial era. He wrote a letter to a head of Kajene inviting him to come to celebration of his title as a prince. Many people asked whether he had God or not, then he explained that whoever know his inner-self, he will know the God, beware of devil, be honest to ourself and be independent as other nation. During dutch colonial era, he saw that Javanese were too long suffering under the imperialism and were easy to bring into conflict.
