Agasthya is a Vedic sage and believed as the incarnation of Brahma. Agasthya appears in numerous itihasas myths and epics including Ramayana [Rāmāyaṇa] and Mahabharata [Mahābhārata]. He is one of the seven reveted Vedic sages. He is also revered in Shaktism and Vaishnavism. He the one of the sages found in ancient sculpture and reliefs in Hindu temples of South Asia, and medieval era Shaiva temples in Java, Indonesia. He is traditionally attributed to be the author of many Sanskrit found embedded inSkanda Purana [Skandapurāṇa] and Dvaidha Nirnaya Tantra.
