Nu[ū]r Nachihat

This is a religious text written in 'payār' verse (a metrical system of Bengali poetry in which each line consists of fourteen letters or syllables). It describes a philosophical discourse based on Sufism as adapted to the Sonāi, Cāchār region in Āssam. Often the philosopher-poet speaks in secretive or code language which could be deciphered only by fellow believers.

Significantly, the author forbids the printing of this text. It is permitted to copy it only by hand. The text does not talk about Shariat-based Islam. In other words, the author clearly intends the book to be read by believers only and not by either the sceptical or non-believers. The author is unknown.

The original text is undated and handwritten by an unknown person. The volume measures 265mm x 180mm. The main text is found on pages 1-101.
