Letter by Mfon (“King”) Musa to Pafumnjati [1941]

Leaves: 1; Pages: 2; Measurements: 12cm x 6cm; Dates 1941; Script: Akauku Mfemfe; Condition: Poor; Comments: Mfon Musa, at this point living in exile, informs Pafumnjati that the whiteman’s administration is very powerful. Musa and his followers must remain careful and united. This letter contains something very rare: Musa’s official stamp, carved in three different scripts: Akauku mfemfe, Arabic script, and roman script. Despite a large following, Musa was never recognized as king and eventually made peace with his brother on the throne (Sultan Njimolouh Seidou) and returned to Foumban.
