Aims and objectives

The CMA-UFPA (Amazônia Memory Center) maintains the custody of the collection of the Pará State Court of Justice (TJ-PA), which covers most of the lawsuits and court books in the Brazilian Amazônia. They are records of marriages, inventories or crimes, notarial books of electoral minutes, wills, and real estate records. The documental volume is 32 tons (1785-1970). The objective is to safeguard part of this collection composed of 8,401 documents that recover the history of the occupation of the Amazônia territory, assisting in research and legal support for the fight against most vulnerable local peoples, especially afro-brazilians and indigenous peoples.
